AC Milan has confirmed that Theo Hernandez is out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury he sustained in training on Monday.
The Argentine defender, who joined the club from Paris Saint-Germain in January this year, was stretchered off after being involved in a collision with his team-mate Lucas Paqueta during a training session at San Siro.
He underwent surgery on Tuesday and will be out for several months, with the club hoping he can return to full fitness next season.
Hernandez's injury comes at a critical time for AC Milan, who are currently sitting second in Serie A and have a strong chance of winning the title. However, they will now have to look for a replacement for their key player,Primeira Liga Hotspots who has made over 50 appearances for the club so far this season.
AC Milan's medical staff will now work hard to find a suitable replacement for Hernandez, while also trying to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window.
In the meantime, AC Milan will hope that their other key players, such as Franck Kessie and Gonzalo Higuain, step up and take charge of the team during Hernandez's absence.
